A Must Read!
Do you know about Judith Lopez’s book Immune Dysfunction? It is a fabulous memoir about how she almost died from mold and candida. As tragic as this story sounds, this is an inspiring and healing book written by a woman with such strength, fortitude, and willpower that you won’t want to put it down, not […]
Afraid to Write Erotica? Meet Jai Elle Mitchell!
Please welcome Jai Elle Mitchell. When I was asked by my agent to put a sex scene in Kate’s Way I went into such a deep state of angst. To me a sex life is private, both mine and that which belongs to my characters. It took me a month of sweating to write one […]

Healing Through Writing
Malvern Books Presentation
WELCOME TO JANMARQUART.COM – YOUR WRITING WEBSITE
I have written daily since June 1972. Writing is definitely a creative process, but its benefits far exceed just creativity. Writing is a healing journey. We are built to align with the energy and effectiveness of words because words are our energetic language. By writing we claim our lives, expose how our minds work, make decisions, express desires, plan goals, and encourage dreams. I encourage writing as a tool for deeper understanding of who you are.
Writing is an expression that will:
1) decrease symptoms of physical health,
2) discover, recover and uncover hidden aspects of the self,
3) redirect a life’s focus,
4) allow creativity and play,
5) encourage healthy thinking, and
6) bring the mind/body/spirit into balance.
I have created a 6-week writing program titled, Unveil the Wounded Self – a Guided Journal for PTSD Sufferers. Once the sting of PTSD and other stress symptoms are released onto the page, we are able to heal.
Bio
Bio I studied philosophy at the University of California/Santa Cruz and became fascinated with the complexities of the mind and its effects on a life. Writing allowed me to explore my life in deeper ways than anything else I tried. I learned that writing was a way to design new paths for my life.
I enrolled in San Jose State University’s social work program while still practicing my daily journal writing. I studied with poet Ellen Bass, Natalie Goldberg, Tom Parker, Tad Wojnicki, Kathleen Roundtree, Tania Casselle and Sean Murphy. I attended up to four book readings a week for two decades to acquaint myself with authors and to find interesting books to read.
I read one or two books a month because reading is an invaluable tool for writing. Eventually I began to write books and wrote fiction, memoir, self-help, and poetry. To date, I have written over a hundred daily journals, had dozens of articles published in local newspapers. I have had poems, short stories, essays, and articles published online and inprint journals such as Down in the Dirt Magazine, IndianaVoiceJournal.com, LadyInkMagazine.com, American Behaviorial Health Newsletter, and more . I have self-published twenty-three books.
I am a licensed clinical social worker counseling families, couples and individuals and worked in corporations helping companies bring unity among their employees. We live by our philosophy. I help my clients through PTSD, addiction, and other life situations and many of my clients love using the writing process to help heal.
And the day came when the risk it took to remain tight inside the bud was more painful than the risk it took to blossom. Anais Nin.
